ISO/TC 137

The second working group meeting was held in from November 10th to 12th at PFI (Test and Research Institute Pirmasens) of Pierre Mason J, Germany. 12 representatives from China, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Germany, Czech, Sweden and other countries participated. China's 4 representatives came from the China leather and footwear industry research Institute.

After the meeting, Secretary Alexis Trollip and chairman Mike Wilson respectively made a report on the work after the Beijing meeting. Alexis jointly reported to the general assembly with the Joint Secretariat of China and expressed the wish to work with China to undertake the work of the Secretariat. After the chairman and other committee members made detailed enquiries about the specific development of the Joint Secretariat, the plan was passed.

The conference focused on ISO/TS 19407 (shoe number conversion table) and ISO/TS 19408 (footwear terms and definitions, footwear size and marking system) and made some progress. Basically, the two draft of the two standards was completed, and after the secretariat was arranged, all members of the committee were voted.

The meeting also addressed ISO/TS 19409.

At the meeting, the Chinese representative actively put forward his own views. The chairman also attached great importance to the opinions put forward by the Chinese representative. Some questions actively asked the Chinese representative's views. Some of the charts displayed by the Chinese representative were directly adopted in the standard draft, and foreign experts on the spot copied the shoe last pattern provided by the Chinese side. The conference atmosphere was more friendly and effective.

After the meeting, Alexis nominated the Joint Secretary Zhang Weijuan for the specific work of the Secretariat to make a detailed presentation and explanation. Zhang Weijuan hoped to be trained before the work started. Meanwhile, Alexis sent a request to the Secretariat of the joint venture between South Africa and China to the international standardization organization technology authority TMB, hoping to give Zhang Weijuan the Secretary's authority as soon as possible.

During the South Africa Conference, a meeting between senior leaders of the two sides will be arranged to hand over the matter of the Joint Secretariat.

ISO/TC 137 the next meeting will be held in South Africa in July 2011. The conference is scheduled to discuss ISO/TC 137's business plan, shoe last and footwear measurement, PFI's equipment for measuring the internal dimensions of footwear.
